Telstra have begun their shutdown of the 3G network today. They have advised they are beginning in Tasmania, but other states will follow shortly after with the rest of Australia due to be completed by 4th November.
What happens to these 3G customers?
As previously communicated, these 3G customers will likely experience disruptions to their service as the network shuts down. Some devices may still connect to 3G and may have intermittent coverage, but once the network is fully closed the devices will no longer operate.
What if they are part of regulatory programs?
The NHVR have put out an announcement today that “NO exemptions will be provided by NHVR to those that have not yet upgraded to 4G”.
