You heard that right!
IAP is being phased out for many combinations including Higher Mass Limits (HML) and Performance-Based Standards (PBS) nationally.
These combinations now require Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA), a simpler and more cost-effective option.
Unlike IAP, the information collected through TMA cannot be used to issue non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Deadlines:
- Not many IAP systems are compatible with TMA which means you may need to change the hardware installed in your vehicles.
- In VIC by July 2023, all PBS combinations over 68.5t or semitrailers over 46t must use TMA and Smart On-Board Mass (not IAP).
- In QLD by June 2024, all existing IAP systems must be changed to TMA. All new vehicles must now have TMA (not IAP).
- In NSW, all PBS and HML combinations can use TMA to access cost savings and simplify driver requirements.
